KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Water and Sewer rates will be going up again this coming year for customers hooked up to the City of Kalamazoo’s water and wastewater utilities.
City Commissioners are scheduled to approve the hikes at their regular Monday evening meeting.
The rates are recommended by a professional consultant, who bases the fees on their projected cost of providing the service.
For customers inside city limits, water rates will actually go down, but a hike in sewer rates will more than offset any savings.
Other Communities that use the City utilities will see their sewer rates go down a smidge, but their water rate hikes will wind up costing them more.
City residents will pay about $3.65 more per quarter on their combined water-sewer bills. Non-city residents who use the system will see their bills go up about $5 dollars.
