WAYNE COUNTY (WKZO) -- A senior member of Michigan’s Congressional delegation could find his reelection in jeopardy after problems with the petition signatures he submitted last month.
It’s been alleged that two campaign workers for Rep. John Conyers collected those signatures before they registered to vote in Wayne County.
Local election officials say that means the 400 signatures they collected are invalid.
That would leave Conyers short of the number he needs.
If an appeal to the Secretary of State isn’t successful, Conyers may have to run as a write-in candidate in the August primary, if he wants to keep his seat.
