BEDFORD TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- Battle Creek Police have discovered a woman caring for a great many animals at a home and barn in Bedford Township.
There are about 100-cats, 25-dogs, along with 5-horses, geese, chickens and goats on the property in the 500 block of Woodside Drive.
It’s clearly a case of animal hoarding, and while that usually triggers an intervention by health officials and Animal Control, Battle Creek Police say the woman appears to be on top of the situation.
The animals all appeared to be healthy and the conditions, while cramped were within the law.
It will be up to the prosecutor’s office to decide if any legal action is warranted, but the officers found no reason to seize any of the animals.
Many communities have limits on the number of pets you can keep, but apparently Bedford Township is not one of them.
The home owner says she took them in hoping to find homes for them.
