PAW PAW (WKZO) -- A Van Buren County woman is expected to turn herself in to deputies Thursday after nearly ruining the birthday of a nephew.
Deputies say warrants have been issued charging 23-year-old Angelie Janoski of Almena Township with two counts involving the possession and use of stolen gift cards.
They claim the suspect took them from the porch of her sister-in-law’s home in Porter Township back on February 13th along with a number of other packages that contained toiletries, toys, a birthday card, candy, video game accessories and clothes.
The owner checked with UPS and learned they had been delivered but disappeared before they got home.
Deputies contacted Kohl’s and Meijer’s, and gave them the identification numbers of the two gift cards. Store security was ready when Janoski walked in and allegedly used the cards.
They had surveillance video ready for detectives. The victim identified her sister-in-law from the surveillance picture and they claim Janoski confessed when confronted.
She said she felt guilty and threw away the other items, but kept the cards.
