KALAMAZOO (WKZO) --Murder charges have been filed against a Kalamazoo man in a shooting that took place a year ago this month on Cobb Street.
31-year old James Shaver has been formally charged, and is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail after being transferred from the Lakeland Correctional Facility, where he is being held for forging a license plate and registration.
The 35-year-old victim, Tawana Henderson was the mother of three children. .
She was apparently an innocent bystander in what police say was a shootout between Shaver and another man.
Shaver was critically wounded in the gunfight but has since recovered.
TV-3 reports he is charged with open murder, attempted murder, and four gun felonies.
