PARCHMENT (WKZO) -- Parchment schools is now commenting on reports that their athletic program lost 20-thousand dollars of gate receipts that were skimmed off the top in the 2011-2012 school year.
Kalamazoo Township Police say late reporting, poor book keeping and missing documents made it impossible to prove who took the money and they have closed the investigation.
In a news release, the district says they could not discuss the case while the investigation was underway but now that the case is closed, they can comment.
The district says it had procedures in place at the time to prevent this but they didn’t work. Since then they have reviewed the program and put new procedures in place. They say they seem to be working.
