LANSING (WKZO) -- Police are out in added numbers through April 7th all over Michigan. The annual stepped-up enforcement looking for drunk drivers is being funded by federal grants in 26 counties. Part of the reason is St. Patrick’s Day celebrations that kicked off over the weekend, while police note the upcoming NCAA Tournament also tends to result in an increase in the number of people driving drunk. Officers with 144 law enforcement agencies in Michigan are taking part.
