KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Among the routine matters on tonight’s Kalamazoo City Commission agenda will be a request to accept just over 6-thousand dollars raised by the Kalsee Credit Union to buy bulletproof vests for Public Safety’s K-9 dogs.
The vests they have now are not compliant.
The highly trained dogs are often the first to confront a criminal during a pursuit, or sent in specifically to flush one out and are often at risk.
The K-9's can’t shoot back if fired upon. A vest could make a big difference.
The money will buy eight vests and miscellaneous K-9 equipment.
