CLEVELAND (WKZO) -- It was a great day to be a Bronco, and it’s not over yet.

The WMU Basketball Broncos are MAC Champs after defeating the Toledo Rockets in the Finals of the Mid-American Conference Championship game in Cleveland, winning 98 to 77.

David Brown scored a career-high 32 points to help the Broncos win their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2004.

Tucker Haymond added 21 points and nine rebounds and Shayne Whittington had 20 points and 13 boards for the top-seeded Broncos (23-9).

Toledo was within three, 56-53, with just under 14 1/2 minutes remaining, but David Brown hit a 3-pointer to spark a 17-9 sequence that put the Broncos on top. Toledo never got closer than nine the rest of the way.
