LANSING (WKZO) -- A year ago Sunday, someone bought a Fantasy-5 ticket at Smokers Depot and Convenience Store on West 8 Mile Road in Southfield and won a jackpot but never turned it in. .
This week a check for $138,727 will be sent to the Michigan School Aid Fund because that’s what the ticket was worth.
Terminal-based tickets are valid one year from the draw date. That date has now come and gone.
Another Fantasy-5 ticket worth $100,000 is set to expire this week. It was purchased at Gould’s Mini-Market on Cypress Avenue in Sand Lake.
The winner has until the close of business on Tuesday to claim their prize or that jackpot will also go to the Schools.
A list of large unclaimed prizes can be found at the Michigan Lottery’s website.www.michiganlottery.com.
Last year the state’s Lottery Bureau pumped $734-million dollars into the State’s School Aid Fund partly from unclaimed prizes, but mostly from their share of the profits from the various games operated by the State Lottery Bureau.
That works out to about $465 per student.
