LAWTON (WKZO)-- State Senator Tonya Schuitmaker has proposed the reinstatement of all the tax deductions for non-profit organizations that were eliminated when Governor Snyder came into office.
The Lawton Republican says she believes the elimination of the tax break has hurt organizations that often provide essential services to local communities, often with greater efficiency than government can. She is co-sponsoring the bill with Sen. Patrick Colbeck would restore everything that was stripped away when the states tax system was overhauled.
Proposing it, and actually making it happen are two very different things. She says first they will have to find the 50-million in the budget someplace to pay for it.
