Binder Park Zoo wants to bring the King of the Jungle to Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- The Binder Park Zoo has won national and international acclaim for its innovative Wild Africa exhibit.

It features a savanah where the animals roam around free in a huge multi-acre enclosure, and it’s the people who are confined to controlled spaces. But there is something missing, a lion.

Zoo officials say a lion exhibit is the most requested, and traditionally one of the most popular animals at zoos.

That’s why they have begun a fundraising campaign to bring lions to Battle Creek.

They are announcing the 3-million dollar capital campaign this week.

It will cover the cost of creating and populating a Lion exhibit and other improvements.
