LANSING (WKZO) -- Michigan's two largest electric utilities believe the new proposal by the Environmental Protection Agency to reduce carbon dioxide from power plants is going to be a challenge. DTE Energy spokesman Alejandro Bopido-Memba says to cut emissions another 30-percent will take a significant investment and likely raise rates.

Consumers Energy is working toward a 25-percent reduction by 2025 and has spent over one-billion dollars to date. DTE has cut emissions by 14-percent since 2000.
