OAKLAND COUNTY (WKZO) -- The Mark Schauer campaign is accusing Rick Snyder’s crew of sending operatives into private fundraisers using spy gear to record the events.
They learned of at least one incident when Oakland County Democrats found the tiny recording card used in a camera hidden in the frame of a pair of glasses.
It was used to tape a fundraiser in a private home in Oakland County.
The democrats were able to download the card after it was found at another democratic event. .
Schauer Campaign spokesman Zach Pohl says public events are one thing, but using it at a private fundraiser makes it a dirty trick.
GOP spokesman Darren Littel says it goes on all the time, and both parties do it.
The glasses were worn by Natalie Collins, a full time paid press officer with the GOP. A photographer hired to take pictures of the guests at the fundraiser also photographed Collins wearing the glasses.
She never approached Schauer during the event and had trouble identifying Lisa Brown, his running mate.
