AUSTIN, TEXAS (WKZO) -- WMU’s solar car racing team has arrived at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
Beginning today and for the next two days, the ‘Sunseeker’ will be put through a series of inspections and test runs to make sure it is road worthy and meets the all the required specifications of the American Solar Challenge.
Its called "scrutineering".
Team member Karen Haubert says they are required not only to build a safe and road tested car but one that meets certain technological requirements, using materials that meet their specifications.
If they pass, they will race in a Grand Prix at the track at Circuit of the Americas on Thursday and next week, they will join the cross country race from Texas to Minnesota.
