BRIDGMAN (WKZO) -- Police officials in Bridgman have released the name of the man who was struck and killed by a freight train this weekend.
The train was moving north through the Berrien County town around 10 p.m. Saturday night.
They say 20-year old Austin Thackston of St. Joseph tried to beat it to the crossing near Lake Street, ignoring gates and warning lights that were activated.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Toxicology tests are being conducted to determine if he was intoxicated at the time.
