DETROIT (WKZO)- The Detroit Tigers looked like they were in for another long night as the Los Angeles Dodgers scored five runs off of Justin Verlander in the first inning.  The Tigers though came alive in the second inning tying the game 5-5.

They then added two runs in the third, four in the third, one in the fifth, and two in the seventh to put together 14 runs and a season high 20 hits and defeat the Dodgers 14-5.

Rajai Davis led the way for the Tigers with three RBIs and Miguel Cabrera, Torii Hunter, and Alex Avila each added two RBIs each.

The Tigers chased the Dodgers starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu after 2 1/3 innings as he gave up seven runs on 10 hits.  Verlander picks up the victory as he pitched six innings giving up those five early runs on five hits while walking two and striking out four.

The Tigers will try to sweep the Dodgers Wednesday afternoon if what may be a pitcher's duel.  The Tigers will send Max Scherzer (10-3 3.47 ERA) to the mound and Zach Greinke (11-4 2.66 ERA) will take the hill for the Dodgers.

Broadcast time is at 12:40 pm on AM 590 WKZO.
