BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) --The woman arrested for stabbing the father of superstar singer Mary J. Blige in Battle Creek has been arraigned and ordered held on half a million dollars bond.
The Calhoun County Prosecutor has charged 50-year-old ex-girlfriend Cheryl White with assault with intent to murder and violating parole, on a previous domestic assault on the same victim.
63-year old Thomas Blige was admitted to Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo in critical condition, and required multiple surgeries to try to repair the damage. They are not updating his condition.
Police say that White and Blige have a violent history of domestic abuse and ended the relationship.
They say that Blige confronted the woman Thursday after she slashed the tires on his SUV outside his apartment at the Arbors of Battle Creek.
Investigators say she turned on him with the knife stabbing him three times.
Mary J. Blige is widely reported to be estranged from her father and she has made no public comment about the incident.
