John Zull says its almost time to retire from local politics

KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo County Commissioner John Zull of Portage has announced that he will be retiring from public office at the end of his current term, and has made an “unalterable” decision not to run for reelection this fall.

It’s an early announcement. He is only half way through his last term.

It will conclude a 28-year career in local politics.

Zull was a government teacher in the Portage Schools when he first decided to practice what he preached, but preferred to stick to local government, saying its closer to the people.

He served three years on the Portage City Council and has served on the Kalamazoo County Board since leaving that post and retiring from teaching.

He will be endorsing Scott McGraw in the primary and the fall election to fill his seat.
