LIVINGSTON COUNTY (WKZO) Was he a terrorist, a prankster or just a very troubled man with a gun?.
The jury has been selected and opening arguments delivered in the trial of Forty-four-year-old Raulie Casteel of Wixom in Livingston County.
He is accused of randomly shooting at motorists in four counties during a two-week period in October of 2012 along the I-96 corridor.
He faces charges of terrorism, assault with intent to murder, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent and discharging a weapon from a vehicle.
His attorney said in his opening statement that he was no terrorist, he was just "chasing demons".
Police say he only actually hit one of his targets, a Barry County man from Delton man who was driving to a World Series game at Comerica Park, and survived the wound.
Casteel was charged separately in Oakland County and in October pleaded no contest but mentally ill to multiple charges. He is scheduled to be sentenced at the end of the month.
