KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo's Gryphon Place is looking for volunteers to sign up for training at its crisis help line. For over 30 years, the Gryphon Place 2-1-1 help line has been training volunteers to take calls from people in a crisis, and it's time once again for a new batch of recruits.
Bob Tonander, with the Gryphon Place, says that a 45 hour series of training classes will begin later this month. It'll teach enrollees how to help others in a tough spot. He tells us that they need people who are compassionate, patient, and with a desire to give back to the community. It also helps to have experience.
