BARRY COUNTY (WKZO) -- The weather is being blamed for at least one death so far in S.W. Michigan.
50-year-old Tim Nixon of Hastings was struck by a car as he was walking along M-37 in Baltimore Township Saturday night at around 11 p.m.
Police are saying a combination of slippery roads, poor visibility and the fact that Nixon was wearing dark clothing and was difficult to see contributed to the crash.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver who struck him was just 16-years-old and also from Hastings.
Police say alcohol and speed were not factors.
