VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO) -- A 65 year old Mattawan man has been charged with a hit and run property crime accident, and apparently he was motivated to split because he was driving on a suspended license, something he has done more than once and he was also on parole.
In fact the Driver was with his brother and they had just stopped off for a meeting with their parole officer, and then stopped at a party store to buy a bottle of booze and were headed home when he slid on the ice and slamed into another car sending it into the ditch, and took off.
A sheriffs patrol came upon the scene soon after it happened just before 10 A.m. Friday morning, checked to see if the driver in the second car was okay and then chased after the suspect’s car, which was limping down the road with considerable front end damage and a blown tire.
They initially denied they were involved in a crash.
Then the driver was arrested for driving on a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident and violating parole.
