DETROIT (WKZO) -- The new Mayor of Detroit, Mike Duggan has officially been sworn in. The former Detroit Medical Center CEO defeated Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon in the November election for the city's top spot.
Duggan has named former Detroit police chief Isaiah McKinnon as Deputy Mayor and former state representative and mayoral candidate Lisa Howse as chief of staff.
Just hours into office the city faces his first crisis as they must deal with a major snow storm and an inadequate number of plow trucks to dig the city out.
Its only partially his responsibility as the city remains under the oversight of Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr. The two men have come to an agreement that Duggan will handle the day-to-day operations of the city while Orr focuses on the Bankruptcy.
A public ceremony will be held next Tuesday, where the new Mayor will make his first speech.
