LANSING, MI (WTVB) -State lawmakers are urging President Obama to take action to provide quicker propane deliveries to Michigan. State Representative Aric Nesbitt of Van Buren County joined with an Upper Peninsula colleague to collect dozens of signatures from other members of the House to urge White House action.
Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has also extended the State of Energy Emergency through March 1st, and at least one propane supplier announced this week they will be increasing shipments to the Midwest and Northeast. Nesbitt among those who are urging the White House to suspend or increase weight limits on certain commercial vehicles on interstate highways. Some propane customers have been charged over $8.00 a gallon in Michigan for the fuel, with the federal government's most recent average last week being just under $3.77 a gallon.
