Midwest governors ask President Obama for help in propane crisis

LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Seven midwest governors, including Michigan's Rick Snyder have sent a letter to the White House asking the President to do whatever he can to help get propane from the suppliers in Texas to homeowners in the midwest. That would include waiving certain regulations and restrictions on trucking and possibly mobilizing transportation resources to move gas to the north.

Industry Analyst John Kilduff says one reason prices have nearly doubled is because the demand for propane is global. Bad weather has been hampering deliveries and sub-zero temperatures have resulted in quicker consumption of the supplies on hand. The governors of Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin have also signed the letter asking for the President’s help.
