KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Two teens are in custody and two more guns have been taken out of circulation in Kalamazoo after the pair fired off several shots in the area of James and Lake Street late Saturday night.
Witnesses were able to give Public Safety Officers a description of the two suspected gunmen who were spotted walking in the 14-hundred block of Lay Boulevard.
The two guns were recovered. Captain Victor Ledbetter says they had been tossed under a parked car not far away.
A trace on the guns showed that both had been stolen. One of the guns was a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun that had been stolen in Flint Township. The other gun was a .22 caliber Ruger that had been taken during a burglary in Kalamazoo.
A 17-year-old is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail for three felony gun charges and for violating probation.
The other boy is being held at the Juvenile home for carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a stolen firearm.
Public Safety also plans to seek additional charges, including reckless discharge, when they submit their file to the prosecutor's office on Monday.
