VIDEO: Congressman Fred Upton takes the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

SAINT JOSEPH (WKZO) -- Congressman Fred Upton this week took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The Republican from Saint Joseph stood on a pier along Lake Michigan on Thursday and had water from the lake, along with ice, dumped on his head.

"I am more than glad to respond to a nationwide challenge to help the folks suffering from ALS," Upton said. "We need more money for research."

Upton then issued three Ice Bucket Challenges of his own to Saint Joseph radio host Pat Moody, Congresswoman Diana DeGette, of Colorado, and Lake Michigan College President Doctor Bob Harrison. Upton additionally challenged Saint Joseph Mayor Mike Garey, who was on the pier with him, and Garey took the challenge right there. Upton had been challenged by the Niles Athletic Department in Berrien County. Our reporting partners at WSJM radio have the video.
