BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- A teenager is in critical condition in a Kalamazoo Hospital with life threatening head injuries after his SUV plowed into a tobacco shop at East Columbia and Riverside in Battle Creek on Thursday. Witnesses say it appeared as though the RAV-4 was going about 60 miles per hour when it slammed into the business. The driver, 19-year-old Trevor Long, has no chronic health problems. Police are looking at store surveillance video and will be analyzing the Toyota’s onboard computer to try and determine if it was a medical issue, or a stuck accelerator or something else that caused the high speed wreck. The impact ripped a hole in the building, which has been condemned until an engineer can determine if it can be repaired. There was no one in the business at the time of the crash.
