WYOMING (WKZO) -- A prisoner who was mistakenly released last week is back in federal custody.
Anthony Sprague Jr. was being held in Newaygo County for cutting off his tether in May, but jailers there let him go on Thursday. He was told upon his release that he had 72 hours to go to the federal building in Grand Rapids to be assigned a parole officer, and it was there that U.S. Marshals took him back into custody.
One told Sprague and his mother that he was considered an escapee, even though the Newaygo County Jail made the mistake in releasing him.
