Whitecaps, Cubs get wins while Tigers, Bears aren't as lucky

UNDATED (WHTC)  --  Minnesota exploded for nine runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning last night going on to a 20-6 victory over the Detroit Tigers at Target Field. The Tigers take on the Twins again today with a double-header, broadcast time on 1450 WHTC at 12:45 p.m. and again at 7:45.

The Whitecaps played some great ball last night. Kevin Ziomek led another standout pitching performance and Francisco Contereras delivered a go-ahead RBI-single in the seventh inning as the West Michigan Whitecaps beat the Dayton Dragons, 3-2, at Fifth Third Ballpark.

***

The Bears took on the Seahawks last night in Seattle without any luck. Even with Josh Morgan leading the team, there was no stopping Seahawks Russell Wilson and Chicago suffered a devastating loss of 34 to 6.

The cubs kicked off a three game series with the Baltimore Orioles last night on a high note. Pitcher Jake Arrietta shut down his former club and helped lead Chicago to a 4-1 win over Baltimore. The teams play again this afternoon at Wrigley Field.
