LAS VEGAS (WKZO) -- Mustang fans are gathering in Sin City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ford's pony car. The Mustang Club of America is hosting a special event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway that kicks off Thursday and runs through Sunday.
A number of events are planned, including a ride and drive of new Ford vehicles, seminars with some of the Mustang's creators, and an open track for racing. There will also be a tour of the Shelby American plant, where 400 customized cars are produced annually.
Ford launched the Mustang on April 17th, 1964. More than 418-thousand copies of the sporty compact were sold in the first year.
