KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The man seeking to unseat Republican Congressman Fred Upton continues to build his campaign war chest. Western Michigan University political science professor and economist Paul Clements has announced that his campaign raised over 122-thousand dollars for the first quarter of 2014, with a total so far raised of over 365-thousand dollars.
86-percent of the over two-thousand contributions were under two-hundred dollars each, with an average contribution of $163.73. A press release from the campaign says they believe the figures put Clements in a strong position headed into the summer ahead of this fall's election.
Upton has held the seat representing Michigan's 6th Congressional district since 1993.
