KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Both the weather and the West Michigan economy appear to be heating up at the same time, and just about as slowly. Kalamazoo based industrial economist Brian Long says all of his economic indicators in March took a positive jump.
Long characterized the growth as slow but accelerating. He says Kent, Ottawa and Kalamazoo are all in the top five when it comes to employment in the state and his numbers suggest that job growth will continue in medium and large firms, and from firms that are not currently located here but may move here. He says small firms continue to lag behind.
Dr. Long added that auto sales continue to be the driving force behind the Michigan recovery.
