LANSING (WKZO) -- The Michigan House has passed a package of bills that change how the unemployment system in the state works. Most of the bills were necessary to comply with federal standards, and won't really affect those who receive unemployment benefits, but one bill does add some new restrictions.
It says that employees who were fired for refusing to take a drug test or failing a drug test cannot receive unemployment. Democrats slammed the drug testing bill, saying it wasn't necessary and that Republicans were pushing just to score political points.
The legislation now goes on to the State Senate.
