PORTAGE (WKZO) -- Plans for a new restaurant with fine dining and live music in Portage took a hit last night when the Portage City Council rescinded their support for a liquor license that was no longer available anyway.
The Repertoire Theatre proposal beat out several others for a brand new liquor license granted to the city after the last census.
But the developers had failed to take out any permits, obtain the financing and had already received two extensions.
The Michigan Liquor Control Commission had already granted the license to the new Marriott Hotel going up at the Trade Center in Portage. Last night’s council action was a formality.
If the developers of the Repertoire plan to move forward, they will have to find some other way to get a liquor license.
