KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Two party stores in Kalamazoo County are being investigated for Liquor Control Commission violations.
Howard's Party Store in the 1300-block of Portage Street and G&M Party Store in the 2300-block of East Main Street both have the same owner. Kalamazoo County Sheriff's deputies worked with the Michigan Liquor Control Commission during a three week investigation.
The owner and employees allegedly purchased stolen alcohol and cigarettes from customers, then relisted the items for sale in the store. Several criminal charges are expected to be filed against the owner and employees after a review by the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's Office.
Both stores were closed for about two hours while evidence was seized, then re-opened once investigators cleared the scenes.
