MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WKZO) -- A 3-3 tie in the bottom of the ninth looked promising for bringing the Tigers’ magic number to one, but two innings later Josmil Pinto drove in a single and the Twins took the first game of the series 4-3.

This was after Justin Verlander struck out twelve, and a score of 3-0 at the top of the 8th. Despite the loss, a new record was made as Prince Fielder played his 500th consecutive game.

Also on point was Torii Hunter, who got in two doubles, a single and an RBI, but Minnesota is a notoriously even match for Detroit.

The team needs two wins to clinch the AL Central title, and the series against Minnesota continues tonight on AM 590 at 7:45 PM.
