LANSING (WKZO) -- Along for the ride on Governor Rick Snyder's recent trade mission to Asia was the CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation Mike Finney, and he used the opportunity to try to differentiate Michigan from other states also trying to attract Chinese and Japanese investment. Finney tells us that, while in China, he was able to point to several things accomplished since Rick Snyder became governor that make the state more business friendly.
Among other things, Finney touted the new right to work law, cuts to unemployment and workman's comp, and changes to the state's business tax.
Finney says that Michigan is in competition for investment not only with other states, but countries all over the world. He says that representatives from dozens of countries can be found in China at any given time trying to attract jobs.
