LAS VEGAS (WKZO) -- It’s always nice to see a local athlete do well. We cheer along as Greg Jennings scores touchdowns and feel sympathy for Derek Jeter as he struggles to overcome injury.

It’s been tougher with Floyd Mayweather Jr. of Grand Rapids, who has done time for domestic abuse and hasn't projected the most likable persona.

Tomorrow night he will defend his championship belts against undefeated pugilist Saul Alverez and its going to cost Americans a fortune to see it.

Pay-per-view is a record $75. Connor Gregoire  of Seat Geek.com says th is shatters all previous records for a boxing match.

He says the cheapest seats in the place sold for $17-hundred face value.

You can be sure that as champion, a lot of that is going to wind up in Mayweather’s pocket.

They don’t call him “Money” Mayweather for nothing.
