KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- State House Representative Sean McCann has made it official.
The Kalamazoo Democrat will be running for the redrawn 20th State Senate Seat in next year’s election.
McCann, who spent 10-years on the Kalamazoo City Commission and four in the State House says he wants to bring what he calls the “Kalamazoo Recipe” to Lansing...that’s investing in education as a lynch pin to growth.
He says The Promise has made that possible in Kalamazoo and it can work on a broader scale. He says the state has gone in the opposite direction, defunding schools.
The Senate seat has been held by Republican Tonya Schuitmaker, but with her home now sitting in another redrawn district, the 20th is expected to be a wide open race.
Now that McCann has announced, expect other candidates who were waiting for him to decide, to announce in that race and others.
