MASON COUNTY (WKZO) -- Warrants have been issued charging Eric and Sarah Kynsz for their roles in the shooting death of State Police Trooper Paul Butterfield.
Sarah, who is pregnant, sobbed through her arraignment yesterday, as she was charged with being an accessory after the fact and unlawfully driving away a vehicle.
She was ordered held on 250-thousand dollars bond.
Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola has issued a warrant, charging Eric Kynsz with murdering a police officer, two gun felonies, and being a habitual offender. If there is a motive, he is unaware of it.
He is out of the hospital and expected to be formally charged today.
One report suggests that Kynsz was driving on a suspended license, feared the officer would find the gun in the car and he would wind up in jail.
The Funeral Service for murdered State Police Trooper Paul Butterfield is now set for Saturday.Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until funeral services begin at 1 p.m.
It will be held at the only place in Manistee that is big enough to seat the two to three thousand who are expected to attend, the Gym at Manistee High School.
State Police Lt. Kip Belcher says they have to prepare to host over a thousand police officers from all over the Eastern half of the U.S.
Police Departments from all over the state are offering assistance, and Kalamazoo Public Safety is sending two members of their Honor Guard.
