KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The Michigan Department of Transportation has announced what major road projects it plans to do in west Michigan over the next five years. Spokesperson Nick Schirripa says it'll be a relatively light construction schedule due to low funds.
Among other things, MDOT will be working on the US 131and Stadium Drive interchange, I94 in 40th Street in Galesburg, and I94 at Sprinkle Road.
Schirripa described the process of picking projects as a jigsaw puzzle. He says that MDOT's requesting one point two billion dollars more for year for road work statewide. Every year that funding doesn't materialize, the longer it will take to get Michigan's roads back in shape.
