LANSING (WKZO) -- Healthcare exchanges where people can find insurance plans that meet their needs will be available come this October as the Affordable Care Act is implemented, and now the job is for the federal and state government to make sure people are aware of their options.
Erin Knott is the Michigan Director of Enroll America, an initiative to tell people all about the healthcare exchanges. She says your best bet for staying well informed is to get in touch with a healthcare navigator. That's an organization hired by the government to guide patients through the process.
The navigators will be up and running come October first, when the healthcare exchanges go live. The plans that people sign up for will be in effect in January of next year. You can find out more about getting a navigator at http://www.enrollamerica.org.
