LANSING (WKZO) -- Governor Rick Snyder sets off on a trade mission to Asia this week. He'll be in China on Thursday, going to a couple of cities, before heading off to Japan over the weekend. The governor says that on this trip will be representatives of some key Michigan industries. In particular, they'll be from the Pure Michigan campaign and the agriculture industry.
Snyder hopes to be able to sign the Healthy Michigan Medicaid expansion plan into law as soon as he gets back, figuring it won't be passed and on his desk before he leaves.
Also this week, the governor said that he's in favor of a plan to build a new arena for the Detroit Red Wings, saying it's an investment in the future of the Detroit. Snyder thinks the peoposed 650 million dollar project will generate new tax revenue, increased business, and foster growth between Midtown and Downtown.
