Detroit Mayoral Primary still not certified

DETROIT (WKZO) -- Its been nearly a month since the August vote  and the results in the Detroit Mayoral Primary still haven’t been certified, not that it will really change the outcome.

There have already been three ballot counts, allegations of mismanagement, and a lawsuit that has now been struck down. The State Board of Canvassers will meet in Detroit at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday to certify the vote once and for all.

The Wayne County Board of Canvassers did not certify the election and wanted to throw out approximately 20-thousand write in votes because some canvassers used numbers instead of hash marks to register the votes.

The State Board ruled that the difference in how votes were tabulated was not enough to dismiss those ballots, and disenfranchise the voters who voted correctly.

Either way it would still be Mike Duggan and Benny Napoleon earning enough votes to appear on the November Ballot.
