OSHTEMO (WKZO) -- Not all kids are facing the prospect of having trick or treat washed out by rain this year. A couple of thousand children got to participate in a safer kind of Halloween event called “Trunk or Treat” last evening.
Three dozen volunteers loaded up their SUV’s and hatchbacks with candy and other giveaways, parked in the parking lot of the Center Point Church on 10th St. and let the kids line up for treats.
Event Coordinator Eliza Bast, who was dressed as Batman last night, says it’s in its third year and each year it gets bigger.
She says they estimate about 2,000 children visited the event on All Hallows Eve, beating the rain that began to fall a little after 8 last night.
