KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A ribbon cutting ceremony will mark the official opening of the new Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in downtown Kalamazoo. Located at 180 Portage Street at the site of the former Rave Cineplex, Alamo Drafthouse will open its doors at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, November 18th.
Known for their strict "no talking, no texting" policy and its wide selection of food and beverages served during feature films, founder and CEO Tim League says they are excited to be coming to Kalamazoo. The theaters will feature Sony's new ultra-high quality 4k digital projection, as well as RealD 3D movies and high end audio systems.
The theater's made-from-scratch menu includes everything from pizza and burgers to homemade desserts. Their beverages include 32 beers on tap, including local brews from Bell's Brewery, Founders Brewing Company, and more.
Alamo Drafthouse also plans on hiring 150 local workers, and they're accepting applications now for kitchen staff and servers.
