LANSING (WKZO) -- Legislation that would stop unemployment benefits for some recipients is now going to Governor Rick Snyder. Under the new rules, someone who's receiving unemployment benefits and then fails or refuses to take a drug test while applying for a new job would have their benefits cut off. Republican State Representative Ken Goike, of Macomb County, says it's all about forcing the unemployed to be held accountable for their actions. Democrats criticized the legislation as unnecessary. Republicans say it won't cost the state anything, and will give the unemployed an incentive to stay off drugs.
