PAW PAW (WKZO) -- The victim of a fatal car wreck in Paw Paw has been identified by the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department as 18-year-old Emily Rose Lauer. An 18-year-old male victim and a 16-year-old female victim, both from Paw Paw, that were in the vehicle at the time of the crash are not being identified.
Investigators believe that Lauer was behind the wheel at the time of the crash just before 6 p.m. Sunday in the 36000-block of 64th Avenue. It's believed the driver was attempting to send the vehicle airborne over a bridge by traveling at a high rate of speed when the vehicle went out of control, sending it rolling into nearby trees.
Investigators say there is no indication at this time that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
